Allow switching subtitles, audio track #892

Describe the feature you'd like I'd like to be able to select the subtitles that are playing. Currently it's only possible to toggle them on and off. There's also no option for selecting the audio track which would also be nice to have though not a dealbreaker.

I also saw they merged in a PR to allow dual subtitles in the main jellyfin repo,I think. It'd be a killer feature as well.

If you press down button when a tvshow or movie is playing on Apple TV, it's appear a menu to change audio tracks and subtitles. At first use of the app I didn't find the menu too :-)

This should be printed in text somewhere on the app 😅 I'm using the iOS remote to control Apple TV, so it's not intuitive to try "pressing" down instead of scrolling like one does when on iOS remote

Edit: just tried. Didn't work on the iOS app for Apple TV

Uff this took me a while to figure out even with the comment above. I have the first-generation Siri Remote with only the touch pad at the top.

You have to "tap" (not press!) on the bottom part of the touchpad.

Is there a way to auto-select English? I am having to manually select for every next episode, annoying.

Has anyone had luck getting this to work with the iOS app?

Nop. I need to use Jellyfin on browser or use VLC to be able to select the subtitles

I figured out how to do this using accessibility features on my iPhone. I am using an iPhone 15 Pro running iOS 17.4.

First in Settings > Accessibility select "Apple TV Remote":

In the next screen enable "Directional Buttons":

Now when I access the remote on my phone I can click the down arrow and bring up the menu for subtitles, audio, etc on my AppleTV:

Hope this helps!
