This also happens on my Nvidia Shield with Jellyfin Android TV version 0.11.4 and server version 10.6.4. Playback starts stuttering and finally crashes (stops) after a few minutes.

Same issue here please fix. Thanks.

Also experiencing this same issue if the playback is from a remote client. Makes media playback impossible.

Same issue a @overlordt .

Playback will be stuttery on Android TV (2019 Shield Pro) app, and then it will just crash back to the Jellyfin home. Regardless of what is being played or if it's being transcoded or played natively. I can play anything just fine on other devices like a Roku, phones, and computers (web).

same issue here,it cannot play 2 episodes of a serie in a row without suddenly close the android app into phone

arlion-dev commented 3 years ago

same issue for me...

markmutai commented 3 years ago

Ive tried it on mutiple devices, it can go on nicely playing videos, but suddenly crashes. Cant tell any pattern to it, nor a file causing issue

bmillemathias commented 3 years ago

I've tested the version beta 0.12 and it regularly crashes (around every 5 minutes).

I've also been having this issue for awhile.

Crash behavior is consistently playing for under 5 minutes, then stuttering audio, stuttering video, then jumping, then full crash. All normally over 1-2 minutes after stuttering starts.

The crash consistently happens on my Nvidia Shield Pro (2019) when watching ".mkv" videos with subtitles enabled. I haven't been able to confirm all settings, but the videos I have confirmed with the issue have been: ".mkv" format, "H265" encoding, "ACC" audio", with subtitles in the file and enabled in the video playback.

Somewhat strangely, this issue has only effected my Nvidia Shield on the Jellyfin application. If I watch the same video through the Jellyfin addon for KODI on the same device, there is no issue and the media is played fine. Additionally if I switch over to another android device I have not seen the issue (I've tested the OnePlus 6, Samsung S8, and Samsung Tab S4).

Closing this issue as duplicate of #1061. See my comment (https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin-androidtv/issues/1061#issuecomment-939736611) for some additional information.

Let me know if this issue is different (not a crash during/before/after playback) so I can re-open it.
