actually same on jellyfin androidTV app, installed v 0.11.5
Folder view has been disabled for now since it is unsupported. https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin-androidtv/pull/768
Hi Guys
I was wandering if this will be enabled any some point.
All my media are home videos / personal / family content taken from camcorders. And these are split into folders etc. So they are not linked to any movies etc.
It would help tremendously having a folder view option on the Android TV app, like we do on the other platforms.
I use a 2019 Nvidia Shield Pro.
Im using the latest Jellyfin server releaase and Android TV app:-
Server - 10.8.1 Android TV App - 0.14
Thanks
Short answer: it won't be back anytime soon
Longer but technical answer: We disabled the functionality because the old Java apiclient missed some enum members causing the app to crash. Since we're not updating that anymore it won't work unless the entire browsing code is migrated to use the new Kotlin SDK. This is a big task that no one is working on. So that's why folder browsing is disabled.
Hello!
I see that several months has passed since the last reply so I was wandering if there is anything new on the folder view for Android TV? I just bought a SONY smart TV, downloaded the Jellyfin app and was really sad to see that this feature is not supported :(
Thx for the update on this one and thx again guys for your hard work!
Same response as 5 months ago. There is no folder view and without a full migration to our new SDK it won't be possible either.
Folder view does not work on Firestick Hi, still nothing for this very important feature? ... tanks
+1
Hi, is there any hope that this feature will be brought back in the future? ...is anyone rewriting the APP with the new SDK? This feature is really very important for structuring multimedia content well in Jellyfin! Thank you
is anyone rewriting the APP with the new SDK?
Yes, me
Hi, is there any hope that this feature will be brought back in the future?
It's planned
And just to be clear, this never worked in the Android TV app.
seems to be a lot of us would really like this functionality. is there any chance a few of us could offer a donation to prioritize this? I would throw in $20 if it would help get some traction.
You can always send me a donation at https://github.com/sponsors/nielsvanvelzen/. But I don't prioritize issues based on donations.
Regarding this issue, I have an experimental branch that rewrites the browsing of the app which includes support for folders. But I can't say anything about when it will be ready for a release.
edit: The relevant roadmap item is here: https://github.com/orgs/jellyfin/projects/47?pane=issue&itemId=59980796 - I started work on it a few months back but added it to the list yesterday, when I was updating the roadmap.
I've been eagerly anticipating this feature on Android TV for nearly two years now. It works seamlessly on Android phones, and I absolutely love it. I'm thrilled at the prospect of seeing it implemented on Android TV.
Describe the bug The bug is specifically on the latest firestick app 0.11.5 - it does not correctly engage the folder view mode - it just shows "Latest" ribbon. Have looked at it via the web and the android mobile app (v2.2.3), itunes app 1.3.0 and web view correctly show the selected items in a folder view. To Reproduce
Expected behavior Just as in the mobile apps and the web access there should be a way to see the scanned folder structure. Logs
