Video playback doesnt start #724

Describe the bug An error with hls seems to prevent playback from starting in the desktop client.

Also tried forcing various codecs from the client settings but nothing seems to work and facing the same error with all of them

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Clicking on any video based media
  2. Shows the loading album art
  3. Gets stuck there and logs error

Expected behavior Expected video playback to start

Adding a me-too for Win10. The app was not updated between working and not working. Known system changes around the time it happened are:

Meanwhile, web player via browser (Firefox) still works fine.

@JitendraSachwani and @jaykayenn, try repairing Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x64) - 14.40.33810. I have had this issue before and using the repair functions fixes it.

Neither of these helped, still getting same error log even with updated Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x64) - 14.40.33810.

Then I don't know what else to suggest, when I had this problem (twice now), repairing C++ (or updating) has fixed it.

I do see that in your logs it says "SyncPlay WrapperFactory getWrapper: htmlvideoplayer" and another user saying that JMP cannot play any media after Right Click 👉 Reload #727 When you repaired C++, did you right click > reload before testing any media?

I have the same issue. I have tried all of the above with no luck (including restarting jellyfin & my PC after repairing C++). My log file also states 2024-07-21 12:14:02.410 [info] unknown @ 0 - JS: playbackmanager playback error type: mediadecodeerror. Out of curiosity I tried playing the stream in VLC and that works with no issue.
