Play Music Album - Song tracks play twice #71

Open daves00 opened 1 year ago

daves00 commented 1 year ago

Please describe your bug

I will use the web or phone interface to play an album to a device (Naim Muso 1). Part way through an album the songs will start playing (consecutively) twice. There are no errors in the log, although the INF messages show the track stopped twice - first time due to the end of the track, second time when I skip to the next track via the interface. This issue start occuring seemingly at random, and has never happened in older version of Jellyfin. It's hard to pinpoint when this started occuring, and I have upgradde ubunto from v18 (LTS) to v20 (lts), as well has carried upgrades in the 10.8 series of JF. I have deleted the previous music library within JF and recreated it. Happy to post logs etc but from scanning the logs there are no obvious warnings/errors that could relate to this. (I do have the blurhash issue - but that is not at the same time as this issue occurs). I am not sure if the issue started in JF 10.7.x or 10.8.x

Media format is FLAC. Naim Muso firmware version unchanged from previously when this behaviour wasn't occuring

Happy to provide additional info as necesssary

This issue stil exists ...

I have solved this issue by moving my music library to a different folder, adding it to JF and removing the older folder. This has also resoved the blurhash issue i was seeing

Hi Dave

It did not work for me I tried

  1. move files to another folder, setup a new library and delete the old library including the files at the OS level
  2. copy files to another folder , setup a scan a new library, remove the old library , remove the files at the OS level

What am I missing ? Many thanks Steven

Hi Steven, My somewhat poor memory thinks ....

  1. Move files at the O/S level
  2. carry out a library scan (to delete the old data)
  3. Delete the old library
  4. Setup new library

Hope this helps, however I still get a few glitches occassionaly with the odd song being repeated - it is a lot better than it was thou.

Thanks Dave

Appreciate taking the time to share your knowledge/experience

Still not working for me If that "procedure" worked for you, maybe it is the type/encoding of files ? Did you notice a difference ?

Also am I to assume that this is only a "one time" issue and it is not happening again with new collections /libraries?

Hi Steven,

Sorry to hear it's still not working - there is of course the nuclear options of wiping the database (I don't know how to do this). I think it happened to me when I changed some music files from MP3 to FLAC for player compatability reasons i deleted the MP3's following conversion but 'm guessing they weren't removed from the JF db - I checked the logs which showed them removed, rebuilt the library and ended up doing the above. Thus I don't think it related to a specific encoding.

The only other change I made prior to this was adding a speciifc player (device) DLNA profile due to a mismatch between player and server regards MP3 and I didn't want a global change - I can't imagine this had an impact.

You are correct it was a one time issue, but as a result of the one time issue it did mess up albums that had not gone via the above MP3 process - so very strange. I can't be 100% sure, but don't believe it impacted newer albums added to the library.

I hope this is of some use

Cheers Dave

I tihnk I have determined the cause of this to some extent. I process the tags on my ripped music using Musicbrainz Picard - this does something to cause the tracks to play twice in JF. Those that I don't process only play once!

daves00 commented 2 months ago

I upgraded to 10.9.7 and the issue is still there for some albums.

Ubuntu 22.04 LTS

JF 10.9.7

Virtualization:No

Played on Naim Uniti

Plugins: image

Track 1 is played only once, screenshot of Musicbrainz Picard

Track 2 plays twice (as do other tracks)

daves00 commented 2 months ago

I will do some more testing in my environment. The issue occurs with Naim Muso as well as Naim Uniti. I think i have noticed that track one plays once, but track 2 and there after play twice - but i can't confidentally say i have consistently noticed this.

daves00 commented 1 month ago

After further investigation ...

I ripped some albums and DID NOT use Musicbrainz Picard (external app). Played an album and part way through (track 4), tracks started playing twice. The player was naim muso.

daves00 commented 1 month ago

After further experimentation - this seems to be an issue with using Naim equipment, which I appreciate will be a challenge to determine and fix. Playing to a Sonos the album plays fine. Playing to a Naim Muso tracks start repeating. I have played the same album to the Muso on 2 seperate occassions. The first time it started repeating on track 4, this morning it started repeating on track 2. I'm happy to assist to try and resolve this fault.

I am using DLNA to play the tracks (to both devices).

I used to be a .net developer (using Microsoft Windows), although I am not familair with working on Ubuntu. I'm a bit rusty at coding but happy to try and help resolve this issue be it providing logs or getting dirty with debugging in my environment given appropriate direction.

felix920506 commented 1 month ago

You can also work on Jellyfin in Windows as it is cross platform.

stef97 commented 1 month ago

Hi

Just want to add that the same issue happens when playing on Sonos

Thanks Steven

Hi Just want to add that the same issue happens when playing on Sonos Thanks Steven

@stef97 Hmm, interesting. What model Sonos? Is it connected to the network Wired/Wireless-WiFi/SonosNet? What version of JellyFin? Are you using the DLNA plugin?
