This bot exists to prevent issues from becoming stale and forgotten. Jellyfin is always moving forward, and bugs are often fixed as side effects of other changes. We therefore ask that bug report authors remain vigilant about their issues to ensure they are closed if fixed, or re-confirmed - perhaps with fresh logs or reproduction examples - regularly. If you have any questions you can reach us on Matrix or Social Media.
BookShelf should warn users they need to be able to download media to read comics in browser.
For years I thought jellyfin wouldn't handle cbr/cbz files correctly and let me read them - I always saw a blank page and an error in the log.
Obviously being a typical user I read the first line of the error message and thought, well, that doesn't work.....
Turn's out to "play" cbz/cbr's users have to have the "allow downloading media" option in there profile checked. Then playback works.
At the very least, instead of showing a blank page for the comic and now useful error in the log, the comic play should present the user with an error message. "Users must be able to download content to read comics, please request download media permission from your administrator".
