The JS API widget guys are going to start refactoring the smart mapping slider widgets for our 4.x API. Think of these as being used in the next generation of the ArcGIS Online MapViewer. The three sliders we currently support are used in apps below.
I’m meeting in 2 weeks with them to go over current bugs or other design issues with the sliders. Could you take a look at them and provide feedback and suggestions on improvements for them. It can be anything from label placement to style, to histogram, orientation, etc. I already have a list of stuff (e.g. Jim’s suggestion to add ticks for standard deviation from the mean on the histogram), but I won’t share my suggestions because I don’t want to taint your perspective. 😊 Also note, we don’t have to do a complete makeover of these. In fact, we probably don’t want to do that. But small details can go a long way. So if you could get back to me by Oct. 11 with some suggestions, that would be helpful.
We’ll work on the refactoring after that time, with the intention of releasing them by the next Dev Summit (March 2019). During the release cycle, I can organize another jam session, so we can test out the new sliders.
