When using Pogo on a Debian amd64 system the search facility continually returns zero results. A screenshot can be seen here

Are you sure that a track with that filename is really existing under one of the music dirs? Remember that pogo does not search in the tags...

Original comment by kevie (2011-06-17T11:07:02Z):

Yes, the tracks from that band are all labelled: {number)-20lb-{track name}

(That particular band have 3 tracks in my music folder)

The search came up blank every time I used it, I assumed it may be as I'm not using Ubuntu but a debian based distro instead. If you want I'll send you more screenshots later.

please run pogo from the command line and post the output here. Are the relevant dirs searched?

Can you run the command "find /home/kevie/music -iwholename jimmy" manually and post its ouput?

For some reason I thought this was different from my problem so I started a new bug report that I've now marked as a duplicate of this one (#892818).

I have this problem because the music folder in my user directory is a symlink to another directory. POSIX states that a path to a symlink that points at a directory should be interpreted differently depending on whether or not the path ends with a '/'. For example: This: find /home/kevie/music/ -iwholename jimmy is not the same as: find /home/kevie/music -iwholename jimmy

I'm guessing that /home/kevie/music is a symlink just like my /home/oscar/Music.

Thanks, Oscar.

Thanks for your investigation. Is that the case Kevin?

Yes, I'd forgotten that I had symlinked my music folder, sorry, I probably should have stayed that at the start, /me bad

This should be fixed in revision 440 in trunk, thanks to your investigation. Can you confirm this by trying out the latest daily deb or checking out from trunk?

That's fixed it for me.

I checked out with "bzr branch lp:pogo" and ran "./pogo.py". The search now correctly finds entries in the sym-linked ~/Music folder.

Thanks.

This has now also been fixed for me as of Pogo 0.5, it is also incredibly fast. Good work Jendrik, you've made a nice wee lightweight player which has now become a mainstay on my desktop :D

That's nice to hear. Wait for 0.6 though, I already have some ideas to further speed up searching for example ;)
