Forget CGI-BIN, a deep-dive into a dynamic database-driven Guest Book with VB Script and an Access DB #13

When people surf to your website, they expect more. It's no longer enough for a page to have simple elements of engagement like like a rotating marquee, a hover-on-mouse-over navigation menu, and great text elements.

Users want to know that your website is up-to-date, not some old abandonware from 1996. That "under construction" GIF is not cutting it. But what can we do?

There is a new technology, from the creators of Internet Explorer and MSN called web scripting and databases. We'll show you how you can combine these technologies to create an unforgettable, interactive session for visitors to your HTML which could truly only be called Dynamic!

By combining scripts on both the web browser program as well as the web server (yes, running on two different computers, joined hand-in-hand via the Internet), we can transfer data which will surprise and delight your visitors -- and keep them better connected to each other! This has been the role of guest books dating back to the invention of air and the Bed and Breakfast, but now you can embrace this exciting social element for your website.

This session will be demonstrated by jden, a longtime webmaster and cyber citizen. In addition to being the essence of a computer whiz, jden knows the 'net and has a deep concern and empathy for your customers, friends, and others who will be surfing to your digital doorstep. Don't miss this engaging presentation.
