You are right, but since all my apps are free, i need a free translation service. Weblate looks good but i would have to host it by myself which I don't have the environment for. More suggestions are welcome.
The Weblate is an open source translation service and they themselves created a server instance https://hosted.Weblate.org. It has a free plan for open source projects. But they have an annoying pre-moderation with requirements like "your project must be at least 3 month old". Your project should pass the check. Translators can subscribe to a project and once new lines added they'll receive a notification. All translations for a day are collected into one commit and the Weblate sends a PR itself. You can configure it not to send a PR but you can yourself pull changes before a release.
If you don't have a time I can create a project there, configure it and send you and invite. Also you can easily integrate the https://translate.codeberg.org/ which is another Weblate instance maintained by the Codeberg - alternative to GitHub hosted in Germany. Since the Codeberg is competitor of the GitHub they won't send you a PR here but you still can pull changes manually before a release.
Other services like Crowdwin, Transifex and Lokalise.com are also have a free plan for FOSS projects but they are not open source themselves. That's not a big deal because the translations aren't code and there is no any vendor locking. You actually can use all of them simultaneously :)
The Crowdwin has a s good ML translation and many FOSS projects use it. The Lokalise.com is my favorite because they show multiple translations from Google, Bing and others. This makes process of translation much faster. But I saw only once a FOSS project that used the Lokalise.com. The Weblate itself is very bad at automatic translation. Maybe at some point they'll make it better. This is FOSS so potentially it can become more advanced.
Awesome, thanks, will have a look into your recommendations.
I wish to add that the app is not that big and messages are short so even the Weblate would perfectly work for it. The Crowdwin for example is definitely a better choice you you need to translate large HTML pages.
Could you please integrate the project with Weblate, Transifex or Localise.com? That will significantly simplify translation. The hosted Weblate have some pre-moderation, the Transifex has not so friendly interface but has a good AI translation, the Localize is similar to Transifex but from my experience slightly better. As far as I understood only the Weblate supports also trnslation of the metadata in fastlane folder.
Similarly for the second app that would be very helpful https://github.com/jenspfahl/BDT
Your apps are target for a wide audience including non techinal people who may don't now the English.
