@CatherineTaelman let me know if you want more versions of the firmware with specific parameters :) .

To summarize:

upload of wave firmware on gps instrument is wasteful but will work
upload of gps firmware on wave instrument will not work - the instrument will reboot in loop, looking for the 9dof
make sure to upload correct wave firmware: the "standard" wave firmware on steval wave instruments will reboot in loop, looking for the non existent magnetometer
doing some test under the open sky is the best way to control that everything is fine :)

check, thanks for the detailed instructions:) I uploaded the steval wave firmware version yesterday on the first drifter with wave sensor and the logging file indicated that the wave sensor was detected. Next step is indeed testing outside for a full day (probably end of next week) ;)

Sounds good :) . What you can do too is take it to the open sky (outside or out of the window) "just a few minutes" to get a GPS fix, so that the processing continues and goes forward, this way you can check that the acceleration data are well sampled by looking at the serial output :) .
