Outlook.com support #22

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Please add official support for Microsoft's new Outlook.com. The existing
Hotmail/Windows Live option does not work. Using your custom option the
following seems to work:

https://mail.live.com/default.aspx?rru=compose&to={to}&subject={subject}&body={b
ody}

Outlook.com is currently launched as a preview so it's possible there will be
more changes to the URL format.

Because it's just in the preview/beta phase, I'm not adding it to the program
itself yet. I did add it to the AddCustomUrl wiki page.
(Note: I heard somewhere that they're planning to get rid of the name "Windows
Live" and switch to "Microsoft ID" or such, so a different URL would certainly
not surprise me)
(Note2: I wouldn't be surprised if the current Hotmail link also works for
outlook. They're basically the same.)

The existing Hotmail and Windows Live options in your extension do not work for
Outlook.com when I tried it.

Looking at the Wiki, the only difference appears to be the inclusion of
default.aspx in the URL. Adding the default.aspx may work for Hotmail and
Windows Live, in which case you can use the same option for all three.

Microsoft is dropping the Windows Live branding completely. WL accounts are now
a "Microsoft Account". They will eventually be replacing Hotmail with
Outlook.com.

It indeed works in Hotmail, so I've changed the link for Hotmail/WLM to also
support outlook.com

I just tried the update in both Hotmail and Outlook.com. Seems to work. Thanks.
