Kernel panic on ixp4xx after the first boot (Kamikaze 8.09) #127

I flashed the new 8.09 standard build on a Compex WP18 / NP18A box.

Everything went smoothly in redboot but after the first boot I received the
following just after mounting the fs:

Please be patient, while OpenWrt loads ...
Failed to execute /etc/preinit.  Attempting defaults...
Kernel panic - not syncing: No init found.  Try passing init= option to kernel.

So it seems that something is not ok in the root filesystem image.
