wlan connection and interface trouble

using r4306 of x-wrt on asus WL500GP i got two issues:

first: using wpa, wpa2, me with linux and others with windows boxes can
connect fine after i set up the wireless.
but when the connection drops or we just reboot und reconnect after some
time then we are not able to reconnect until i restart wireless on the
router. then everything is fine again until one has to reconnect.
reconnecting after a short period of time is fine though.
why does connecting work first and after some time it doesnt? how can i
find out whats wrong?

second: the wlan configuration interface seems to be a bit messy as when i
open up the wlan configuration page the drop down menu with my selected
encryption method is shown but the details are not.
to also see the details i have to first change the encryption method in the
dropdown to any other method and then back to my desired method to see any
details like encryption key.
