This will allow the date-related specs to be run on the travis client and pass. Some things to consider:

Pro: This will take care of the newlines problem the current file-driven examples have.
Con: Can't seem to find any good node diff modules (perhaps that's an area of opportunity)
Pro: The spec runner is going to look more verbose.
Con: The specs are going to become slightly more brittle.

Found a fix for travis in ba7da33e820670ddf9dfd93ed13de1e9266e5ffc. Keeping examples in the current format.
