I am having the same issue and getting the same error message using:
Mileage version: 3.0.8
Android version: 2.3.4
Device: Droid3
Additional:
I am also not able to Import Data, which is my primary goal as this is a new
phone. I figured the issues were related, so I've focused on trying to Export
data.
To troubleshoot I have tried:
1. Exporting data. I went ahead and added a fill up so there would be something
to Export.
2. Uninstalling and reinstalling the Mileage app.
3. Turning the phone off and on again.
4. Tried exporting again, all with the same results mentioned in the first post.
(Sorry to spam you, but I didn't know if the additional information might be
helpful)

I also have problems on HTC Desire
Automatic backup used to work, but now, after a reset, I see that it did not
backup since april (my fault that I assumed that it worked!)
But even is the file is stamped in april there is only data up until January
2011.

Same, exporting either option results in "Unable to export date!"
Droid X2, Android 2.3.3

I have the same issue as comment 2, although I did a backup to SQLite just
before reflashing the phone 15th October (HTC Desire S, Gingerbread -> Ice
Cream Sandwich) but when restoring that backup there is only data up to
February.
When I open the backup file in PC using Sqliteman I cannot find any newer
fillups than 16th February :(
I've been adding information since September 2010, but now I have a data loss
of 8 month, I don't feel like using Milage any more.
