Maps not sending current map or directions.

Please answer the questions about build version and network, will save
developers a lot of time !

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Open wwww.google.com/maps
2.create from-to directions
3.click on Chrome to phone Icon.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Map app to open with from-to pre-populated
instead it just opens the map app with current location.

What version of the android, in Settings -> About phone -> Build number 
(OLYFR_U4_1.2.6
ex. FRFxx ) ? If less than FRF50 - see the FAQ.

Is the phone using WiFi or mobile network when problem occurs ? If Wifi,
are you behind a firewall that blocks outgoing connections ? Same, whether Wifi 
on or off

Can you open "Gmail" application ? Do you see new messages without hitting
'refresh' ?Y

Can you open "Talk" application ? Do you see incoming chats ?
Yes.

Please provide any additional information below.

Update: works fine with maps.google.com but not with www.google.com/maps

Neither URL works for me.  Maps opens and says, e.g., "Palo Alto, CA to San 
Francisco, CA": not found.  This undermines a very useful feature.  Phone: 
Nexus S 4G / Gingerbread 2.3.4
