Redesign home page #32

It has been requested that the home page render different sections rather than dump all Articles in a grid. For example:

  1. Featured slider
  2. Featured articles
  3. Buy Skin Deep banner
  4. Back To Basics articles
  5. Skin Deep meets articles
  6. Events posts

The sections that display a list of Posts/Articles would preferably have a 'See more' link that takes the user to an archive page listing all the Posts/Articles of the relevant query.

It would be nice if this was dynamic/customisable. My first thought is to make the home page a wigetised area, using a 'Featured Posts/Articles' widget that can be configured with an optional Category to define 2), 4), 5) and 6).

Recent Posts Widget Extended is a very configurable widget. However, as each widget output should form its own masonry grid, I think the final plugin will require tight integration with the theme. As a result it might be best to reimplement the desired functionality into a Skin Deep plugin.

Note: the 'Buy Skin Deep' banner would also easily be fulfilled with a widget
