Is it possible for the images to break out of the column were the text is? imagebreakout

This is not straightforward as we have the 'related articles' and stickers appear in either column. I'm not sure how to allow this to happen without sometimes obscuring the side content.

Thought, What if the columns on the side were able to float on top of the image below? In practice would this be possible, without making the website too heavy, loading times etc?
