• Inkscape is a vector graphics drawing program

• Gimp is a image editing program similar to photo shop
  • For most of my use cases, it's probably overkill.

  • A simple image editing program
  • It is good when you want to do simple edits on an image
  • rotating, flippping
  • resizing, changing file format between formats such as jpeg, bmp, png, and tiff, and changing compression
  • cropping
  • basic image manipulation such as colour levels, conversion to black and white
  • basic editing actions, such as adding text

  • Command-line tool for converting image file formats
  • It is particularly suited to batch conversion of multiple images
  • It can be used as part of a script or a makefile
