Nes image broken "no rom files specified or found"

Looks like your nes image broke. Probably because of a change in the go package expecting the roms in different place now.

docker run --rm r.j3ss.co/nes:latest
no rom files specified or found

you need to pass the files: docker run -d -v /tmp/.X11-unix:/tmp/.X11-unix -e "DISPLAY=unix${DISPLAY}" --device /dev/dri --device /dev/snd --name nes ${DOCKER_REPO_PREFIX}/nes "/games/${game}.rom"

Thanks. That resolves the ROM issue. However still not able to play with the image on my Windows 10 using git bash. Any ideas? I know ALSA is a linux audio driver if I remember correctly.

I do have an X11 server installed on my windows. vcxsrv. Do note the double // in the commandline are intentional as a workarround in git bash on windows.

Running docker GUI apps on Windows is a bit different. E.g. you don't have sound devices in /dev/snd and there is no X socket to share in /tmp/.X11-unix.

You can try x11docker instead. It allows to run docker GUI apps on MS Windows.

Steps:

Create a custom nes-pulseaudio image:

FROM jess/nes
RUN apt-get update
RUN apt-get install -y pulseaudio alsa-utils

Install Cygwin/X with package pulseaudio.
Download x11docker and copy it to /usr/bin of Cygwin.
Make it executeable with chmod +x /usr/bin/x11docker
Run: x11docker --gpu --pulseaudio nes-pulseaudio /games/zelda.rom
