Advanced Financial Analysis in Avention Open I just had a demo with an Accountancy firm. As there is no ability to do any advanced financial analysis (unlike in BB) they suggested putting the fields available from 'Advanced Financial Analysis Pack' in the grid view for Avention - such as Ebitda and other ratios.

Im sure all our existing Accounting clients will be requesting this very soon. 5 Comments » Posted by ian_gallagher to Avention on 3/5/2014 6:22 PM

Additional Information Which customer(s) made this suggestion? Pitcher Partners What customer impact would this have? I believe it would impact all clients in the Accounting and Finance industries.

From Govardhan Lakshminarayan - Bangalore at PWC: Will time series reporting be available for key financials as in Business Browser advanced financial analysis? Not searching but at least in grid view. Like Edit | Del

A client made an interesting point. For most small UK companies who only have to provide “abreviated accounts”, we have balance sheet items more so than P&L items like sales, assets, etc which make up our standard search filters. It would therefore be good to be able to search on these items for smaller companies as well as the larger ones using the “advanced financial analysis pack” in Avention.

Currently Avention doesn't have any of these capabilities so think it would be worth make improvements to this important legacy feature when the time comes to add this to the solution. Like Edit | Del

Andrew, can you please let me know the following:

  1. Who is the client requesting this?
  2. Are they looking for companies to be included that aren’t available in BB Analysis Pack today? In BB, we include the UK top 500k companies. By “smaller” companies, are they looking for others in Avention aside from those?
  3. Do you have any details on the types of actions they are hoping to take against these companies? What components of the existing BB Analysis Pack are important to them?

Answers are:

  1. Steve Carlson (sole trader) – but this would be useful to a variety of companies and would be especially valuable in our UK clients
  2. Yes – although the analysis pack would be good for current BB clients who already use the tool the client feels having access to these filters for all UK clients would be very valuable. As mentioned SMB companies have “abbreviated accounts” which often don’t have the basic size filter information available in the company list building tool like “sales” so this would mean clients can search on other fields where available for the information available (balance sheet information in these situations is usually more populated than P&L information)
  3. As mentioned he was looking to use filters from balance sheet information in smaller companies as the data is available more so for these than our standard “sales” filter in abbreviated accounts. He was keen on things like “Retained Earnings” and “Shareholder Funds” specifically. Like Edit | Del

Xylem just asked for Analysis Pack features to be in Avention, they can't full switch over without this. They'd typically look up 1-10 public companies in AP, then build a report comparing various financial details. Like
