Add Social Media as a content source for Triggers and on Exec Profiles Open
A massive amount of information is published via Social Media, particularly Twitter and LinkedIn. Frequently, relevant and actionable information is published exclusively through these channels. It would be a major benefit to Avention users to be able to leverage this information as part of our Unstructured Data model. Excluding it seems to be a major oversight according to potential client CoreSite, and may cause Avention to lose this deal to InsideView specifically because of this functionality.

Social media monitoring is a big part of Artesian solutions value proposition and gives them a competitive edge against us in combination with their alerting capabilities. Social media is now a significant source of insightful unstructured data in addition to web news and trade press. Whilst it may represent the inside view many important nuggets are released via social media ahead of press releases and market wires. I thought in the early days of the Avention launch our marketing purported that we included content from company websites, social media and blogs in addition to aggregated news and trade press articles. If we truly want to leverage full insight from big data then we need to cast the content net wider.

Practically every company i speak to asks if we are leveraging insights from social media. I keep telling them its coming but its not here yet. We need to be on this ship before it sails.

Are you suggesting we should incorporate more social media information into our UI or do more to leverage it on the back-end for collecting data on companies and contacts?

I think it could be a blend of both. "Social Selling" is a big thing right now thanks to LinkedIn and InsideView. Competing in this market would require more social media information in the UI. On the other hand, where we really set ourselves apart is in the unstructured data model - if we could also integrate social media into the back end for incorporation into triggers, business signals, etc then we would have a comprehensive solution.
