I like this idea, a way of everyone participating to influence the order of the posts on the frontpage. Need to think about the actual implementation, the bot could listen for something like "+1" to upvote the last posted url in the channel. There needs to be a way to track the IP adresses and/or IRC-Hostmasks to prevent multiple up votes.

i think this would require a basic authentication for zeitgeist,

• registering through website/irc
  • in irc one-step auth: !zeitgeist.reg email pass, same for web registration
• up/down-vote button on page
• up/down-vote trigger for irc

i would prefer to implement voting via website AND irc for usability reasons.

so this turned out to be more like #10 whats missing is ajax and the irc backend but i close both for now
