I can confirm here as well, Jelly Bean 4.2.2 cannot use the SSHTunnel(Beta) -
it simply fails to connect.
On the stable version of SSHTunnel, it says it's connected, but no traffic
passes through.

I can confirm that also on the latest CyanogenMod nightly for grouper. I'm able
to connect but attempts to use Chrome ends up in "No data recieved".

I realized that my root access is lost after updating. So I root again my
device and SSh Tunnel is working fine again.
You may use this tutorial for rooting JDQ39 Android 4.2.2 Nexus 7 tablet:
