MMS delivery notification upsets unread message count

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Send a MMS with delivery notification enabled.
2. Receive and read delivery notification.
3. Receive one SMS. Unread message count displays as 2.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
When SMS is received, unread count should match number of unread messages.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
App version 1.2.4
Android version 2.3.3
Kernel version 2.6.35.7

Please provide any additional information below.
Phone model is Samsung Galaxy S (GT-I9000)

Correction to repro steps:
2. Receive but do not read MMS delivery notification.
3. Receive one SMS. Unread message count displays as 2.

Since posting this issue it appears that manually clearing the SMS Popup 
notifications before reading the SMS seems to resolve the problem.
