i18n.js 500 internal server error

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Go to the login page of the demo site at http://vosaocms.appspot.com/login.vm
2. View network tab in Chrome developer tools
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
i18n.js returned successfully in a reasonable time, but it takes over a minute 
to produce a 500 error
This is similar to an existing issue marked as fixed - but obviously it is not.
