From the Chicago Eater website, ‘This bread-centric cafe from wife-and-husband team Sarah Mispagel and Ben Lustbader became a near-instant hit when it launched in August 2022. The glow of small-screen stardom helps — Mispagel, a baker, was a consultant for Hulu hit The Bear and created the show’s now-famous chocolate cake. But the real magic comes with biting into the cafe’s egg sandwiches, available with sausage, capicola (“gabagool” to Tony Soprano), or braised kale. Loaf Lounge is a new bakery cafe in Avondale with baked goods from Sarah Mispagel (Sepia, Proxy). The breads are spectacular and power the sandwiches. The English muffins are wonderful. There are also cookies and other sweet treats. Then there’s that little matter of The Bear chocolate cake.’ Adam and the gang recommend getting the English muffin sausage breakfast sandwich.
