SENSOR0 / BALL 1 stuck in perpetual diagonal movement #2

SENSOR0 / BALL 1 seems to be stuck in perpetual diagonal movement. If I set the X axis to Cursor X and Y axis to Cursor Y (inverted), cursor perpetually moves down and to the right, diagonally. Accordingly, if I set Y axis to Cursor Y (not inverted), cursor perpetually moves up and to the right, diagonally. Any idea on how to debug this? Could it be a faulty PMW3360 sensor?

I tried using the provided trackball.uf2 as well as building the firmware with the last Pico SDK, to the same result.
