Placement of LGT #8

Open arvestad opened 12 years ago

The placement of the originating node of a transfer is sometimes in a surprising location. Why is it not always centered (or nicely distributed if there are several lgts) over the possible interval of the lgt?

Interesting, could you send me an example when this happen and what would be the desired location?

OK, I now realize that github is skipping attachments and that you might not receive the actual email, so I reply to your personal address too.

Data and annotated illustration attached. It seems as if the transfers get arranged so that the destination ends up centered on the destination branch.

I did not get the files in my email

The reason the origin of a LGT might not be placed in the most centered location is because primetv will move to the left or right the origin on the LGT if it collides with another LGT or a species tree node. If those requirements are not important I could simplify the LGT coordinates computation.
