Rather than treat a mime type as a subtype of a string, completely switch over to a MimeType class.

Pros:

strongly typed

Cons:

OO overhead
gotta do the refactoring work

Does this really solve anything? Articulate the problem clearly before continuing. I looked at it again for a bit, and I am not sure it is worth doing.
