I'm not particular partial to the current one, just hit all of our requirements

This one caught my eye 'cause it's super Materialized.

What about just using https://github.com/swiip/generator-gulp-angular ? It has a material-design option

We could also use a transpiler if that sounds enticing at all

Switched to https://github.com/swiip/generator-gulp-angular - which is actually what the original scaffold was based on.
