Optics Design #8

Please find below a preliminary optics design of the compact light source with parameters as follows:

Starting from the middle of the wiggler, the sequence of elements are: d4, bend, d3, bend, d2, q2, d1, q1, d0, d0, q1, d1, q2, d2, bend, d3, bend, d4

bend: sector bend, edge angle = 22.6 degrees (0.395 rad) on both ends (+ve means defocusing/focusing effect in x/y respectively) d0: drift, l=0.4; d1: drift, l=0.1; d2: drift, l=0.1; d3: drift, l=0.5; d4: drift, l=1.0; q1: quadrupole, l=0.2, k1=1.9324; q2: quadrupole, l=0.2, k1:=-4.55564;

A reflection symmetry about the middle of the upper straight drift has been exploited to simplify the design. This deviates slightly from the schematics as the two quadrupole doublets are no longer both FD but rather DF downstream of B4 and FD upstream of B1.

The dispersion function is zero throughout the wiggler, which should greatly enhance the brightness of the radiation. However, further optimization remains to be done because the dispersion is rather large at the quads which would reduce the possible number of turns.

Hi Jonathan,

Can you tell me what is the betatron tune? or can you also send me the output file produced?

thanks a lot!
