My #1 vote would be for a nice solid USB-B jack instead of the micro-USB. Installation difficulty aside, it seems like every device that I own with a micro-USB feels like it could break at any moment.

The micro USB port used here should actually be pretty solid, since it has THT "stubs" that fix it mechanically. But you're right that most micro USBs are entirely SMD and it's very easy to rip them off the PCB.

Come to think of it, we already have a DC power jack on the board, which is similar in size, so there's really no upside to using micro-USB.
