What should we call this thing?

"Off The Trail" "The Bivouac" (A Bivouac is a short term shelter that is used when you don't need to go fully into setting up a tent. "Slack Pack" (Slack Packing is where you don't set low to no parameters for your trip, thing of a Zen trip with no end date in mind)
