A nice (easy) option would be to permit specifying "icar" inputs (or "GARD" or "BCSD-like") to get a pre-populated list of variables.

Similarly, default named regions (e.g. CONUS = "area": "55/-130/20/-60")

U (3D 6hrly)
V (3D 6hrly)
Pressure (3D 6hrly will likely need to be computed somewhere from e.g. ps)
Z (3D 6hrly height of U,V,P,... likely needs to be computed)
Water Vapor Mixing ratio (3D 6hrly)
Temperature (3D 6hrly ideally potential, likely needs to be computed from real temperature)
SST (likely daily)
