The calendar has a sequence of seasons. Only complete seasons are included, no leading or trailing fragments.

There are three seasons:

Each season has a series of moon phases, the dates generated according to issue #4. There are four lunar cycles, or five in a hot season. The sequence of moon phases always starts with "waning" and ends with "full" to give waning, new, waxing, full.

Seasons also have a number of uposathas, such that we can say uposatha 4/8 for the fourth uposatha of a season containing 8.

Seasons are generated with all information except holidays. See issue #5 for that.
