Dygma Raise 65% split keyboard

https://www.dygma.com/

I have one, and I LOVE it.

Would this work for vector art?

Looks like a nice board! I'd be glad to add it, especially because it's actually an option that you can just buy, like the Ergodox or Keyboardio. Most others you have to build yourself.

The keymap you linked to is a png file, so that won't work. I would need a .svg, .pdf, .epa, .ai...something like that. I could try and convert it using something like https://vectormagic.com/, but I've never tried that and I'm not sure how well it would work.

I realized that afterwards, sorry. I hadn't looked at your actual software to see what it did! Very nice, btw.

I don't work for Dygma, I'm just a VERY happy customer - particularly since Ergodox and Keyboard.io Model 01 were too big for my hands, which are on the smallish side, even for a woman. I also have a degenerative connective tissue disorder, so my hands are a mess.

The Raise is the most "small hand friendly" of the pre-builts you mentioned, and probably the most user friendly, with the lowest learning curve. Installing their Bazecor software is quick and easy (and easy to figure out), and the software "just works." They are actively developing a tenting solution. In the meantime, I personally just bent some metal bookends into the angle I wanted, and stuck the keyboard halves on with some Command strips. lol

I've informed Dygma of your site, and provided links to it and to your Github. I asked them to please send you vector graphics. Maybe follow up with them in a week or two if you don't see anything?

They also have an official Subreddit : https://www.reddit.com/r/DygmaLab/ where you could put a request there, if you're inclined.

Hope you're weathering the global pandemic safely and well!

Best,

Nina

I actually just searched for a png to svg converter, and I think the result I got will probably work fine. I'll try and add it asap.

Good to hear that there are more "out of the box" solutions out there. It takes quite a lot of investment in time and learning to build a DIY board, especially on the software side. The Dygma looks like a great solution for many, especially on the learning curve front. Pretty much every DIY board has zero row stagger, which takes some adjustment (though I definitely prefer it now).

Great! You may still get some nice vector graphics from Dygma - I told them you were interested in including their keyboard on your site.

What many in the mech keyboard hobby don't stop to consider, is that some people don't just WANT an ergo board, they NEED an ergo board in a very serious way. As in, they physically have the kinds of issues that make soldering and assembling a keyboard an exercise in physical torture, with little to no chance at success - at least not without a lot of pain, sweat and tears. And if your daily life already requires that just to get out of bed and live your life, whether "just" on bad days, or every day, it's a complete non-starter.

Wishing you happy, healthy typing!

Nina

Great points - I might actually add a filter to only show boards that can be purchased pre-assembed vs. DIY only. In the meantime, I posted on reddit to see if I can't get a better svg file: https://www.reddit.com/r/DygmaLab/comments/ftrpiq/looking_for_dygma_svg_file/

The converted file I have might work, but it'd be better to one from the source if possible.

Alright, the Dygma Raise is now up on the app! Thanks for brining it to my attention. I also added a filter for "availability," which filters boards that are DIY or pre-built (there aren't too many split keyboards that are available pre-built, and the Dygma is one of them).

I'm super sorry I dropped off the planet. Thank you so much! As a huge fan of the Dygma Raise, I'm glad other people will be able to find it - it's a great keyboard and has tremendously helped me.

Best,

Natalie
