Hello! I tried this library in my project and it took me a while to figure out why things were not working. I eventually came across #21. Until SSL is supported, maybe updating the docs would be a good idea so others don't run into this too.
I'd be willing to look into adding this functionality but unfortunately won't have time in the immediate future.
