Support fragmented mp4 files #20

Open jhiesey opened 8 years ago

Since the rewrite, fragmented mp4 files aren't supported any more.

Is this a feature people want? If so, let me know. If not, this isn't a high priority issue.

I would love to see this feature. Having lots of problems with MP4 files not playing right now.

I'll take a look at how to do this cleanly. It's probably not going to be super simple unfortunately.

@jhiesey Hi

Do you have any news on this feature? We would like to use both HLS and WebTorrent in our application, but without fragmented mp4 support in videostream we need to generate two different mp4 files

tbranyen commented 5 years ago

I've been doing some work with mp4box.js and have some experience with playing back non-fragmented content. I'll take a look at the codebase over the weekend and see if I can help out.

This is a big concern. iOS and Android cannot handle "big" mp4 files, something more than 10 minutes. So HTMLMediaElement will never stream a thing on the billion devices of the planet. The unique way is with .ts support and m3u8

Anyone knows what happened with this feature? Or if there is an alternative for WebTorrent to play on iOS o Android streaming instead to wait until the full file is downloaded?
