ADT-1 no longer fully supporting Cast protocol? #651

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open Google Music on Laptop (Ubuntu 15.04 in my case) with Chrome.
2. Select the ADT-1 player in the list of available devices

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
On the Nexus Player or Chromecast I get the tailored music player, one the
ADT-1 I just get the plain Chrome tab - which doesn't cast any music.
If I instead try the same from for instance a Galaxy S4 using the native Google
Music app, it will start to connect and then quickly silently fail.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
The ADT-1 runs 5.0.2. The S4 (GT-i9505) runs 5.0.1. Same result with a Nexus 6
running 5.1.1.

Please provide any additional information below.
I'm pretty sure this worked fine in earlier, I've just not use this particular
combination for a while as the Nexus Player and Chromecasts work as expected.

Is this is possibly a problem with the 5.0.2 firmware of the ADT-1? I know it
was a free item at the conference so I can't really complain, but it work
really well in every other aspect (even better than the Nexus Player) so an
updated firmware would be really nice...

If the ADT-1 is truly dead, then perhaps it should no longer be prominently
displayed on https://developer.android.com/tv/

We're looking into it and will let you know if we need any additional
information.

For the record: I can work around the problem by following these instructions:
https://enjoysmile.com/third-party-application-on-the-adt-1/
Hence, I suspect something has happened with Google Music (possibly related to
what will be announced on Tuesday). This workaround is good enough for me
really, but needing it came as a bit of a surprise since GMusic is explictly
listed as supported.

Glad to hear you were able to find a workaround. However, ADT-1 was originally
released to give developers an early look at the Android TV platform before any
hardware was available. Now that we have the Nexus Player and several
additional Android TV devices coming to market, we will no longer continue to
release updates to ADT-1 and recommend using available Android TV devices with
the latest software update for development.
