Now I need to figure out if there's a way to have leanbuild update the version of pandoc it uses automatically.

Or, is there a way we can just not use this option?

I'm going to see what happens if we just don't use this option if the pandoc version is less than 2.11 https://rmarkdown.rstudio.com/docs/reference/pandoc_args.html

Question is will the citations still render okay?
