No speciel key input possible on LG Optimus 2x #448

I recently got a LG Optimus 2x and "ported" over ConnectBot from my HTC Desire. 
But much to my dismay I can not "send" Ctrl, Alt or such characters to the 
server as the LG Optimus 2x has no hardware trackball. 

So what can I do?. Will you try to make it possible to use another button for 
that functionality, ie volume down or volume up, or allow the use of one of the 
4 capacitative keys on the phone?.
