What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Please provide any additional information below.
Currently Espeak TTS only runs on Android 2.2 and up. However very few devices
are available that meet this requirement and also have a physical keyboard and
mechanical control and navigation buttons, at least the latter is essential for
screen readers. Furthermore those devices are way too expensive for blind
people in a lot of countries (e.g. in Hungary). If Espeak TTS ran on Android
2.1, this would widen the choice among suitable devices, e.g. the multilingual
Espeak could be used with the excellent Alcatel OT 980 (Android 2.1.1.) with
the help of "TTS Extended" app. This phone is quite cheap (about 100 pounds),
has hardware keyboard and all control and navigation buttons are also
mechanical. Currently it can only speak with the built-in SVox Pico TTS and
eventually with the not free SVox Classic engine.

or you can buy a phone that has Android 2.3.4 preloaded, as you have said the
phone you baught is quite cheap, sometimes buying a cheap phone doesn't mean
you're getting a good deal - Android is designed to work on many phones as long
as the drivers are Linux compatible.

so as a short answer, buy a phone that can be updated to Gingerbread or better,
you will find more apps will be supported and you won't have this reason to
complain about them.

Do not plan to support Eclair.
