Hi Daan, sorry for the late reply. 1) Generally, vs2 should have high sensitivity since it's trained with viral sequences assembled from ocean and soil samples. Viral sequences from skin samples were not used to train vs2, so it's possible for VS2 to have less sensitivity for skin viruses if skin has very unique viruses. 2) Yes. Update to database will be a major update, which is not very frequent tho.
Dear,
I used Vs2 for fecal samples in the past, and it worked very well. Now I'm working with skin samples, and I can only identify a minor number of viruses using vs2. (1) Just to confirm but could this be that some biological places are less well covered such as the skin and others? (2) will there be an update including skin virome at some point the future?
Cheers!
