Crashes on Linux when I press the text button. #409

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
I am running a fresh install of Linux Mint 10 (32 bit) and grafx2 v2.2-1

Every time I press the text button, grafx2 instantly crashes, with a message of
"buffer overflow detected" in the terminal, followed by a long bit of output
which I included in the attached Terminal_output.txt file in case it would be
of any use.

If this happens after you have used the text tool with a font size of at least
100, it's issue 356 (fixed in the in-progress v2.3)

No, it has yet to let me use the text tool at all. Right after a fresh install
I tested it out and as soon as I touched the text button the program crashed, I
never had a chance to even see the interface for the text tool, let alone to
play with the font size.

I had the same problem with my previous install of Mint 9, which used the same
version of grafx2 if my memory serves me correctly.

Did you compile it yourself? The version in the repository had this problem for
me.

Ravey1138, do you mean it happens with the debian package "grafx2 2.2-1" ?

It seems this binary does not have debug information, so I can't really deduce
much from the stack trace.

That's the one, I've submitted a bug report for it on Launchpad.

Anyone tried this on a built-from-source WIP build of 2.3 ? For me it's working
fine on them...

A bit away from the latest message, but:
Xubuntu 10.04, i386.
DEB-file crashes on text feature.
Self-compiled works flawlessly (just like Windows binary).

Looks like false alarm.

Assuming false alarm. Tell us if you can reproduce it with a WIP version then.

Back when I filed this, and up til I migrated to Arch, this primarily seemed to
be an issue with *buntu based packages (Ubuntu and Mint both gave me the same
troubles), as it was always just on those distros that I had issues with it. I
have no idea if it is still having any issues or not, as I have been on Arch
for several months now and the version in the Arch AUR works like a charm.
