Saving a brush messes up image save format/path

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Load a gif image from any folder (I used drag&drop)
2.Pick a brush from it and save as a png in another folder
3.Do right-click on save and format/path for image will change

Not sure if these can be remembered separately, but only reason I noticed this 
is because I had a layered file so it warned me that png would lose the layers. 
Sounds like a good way to save one's file in some odd folder and not be able to 
find it afterwards :)
