Allow pasting into dialer #11

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Copy a phone number from a web page with the context menu
2. Try to paste into the dialer

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
In the absence of hyperlinks (on Google Maps, for example) or a context menu to
dial highlighted text it would be helpful to allow pasting into the dialer.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Version 1.1.6 of GV Dialer on 5.0.342.7beta on Ubuntu Karmic 9.10.

Thank you for this great extension, Osama. I have been using GV for a long
time
and this is the best integration product I have seen. It works better for me
than either of the two published alternatives (one of which is made by Google).

Sorry, I did not mean to classify this as a defect. It is a feature request.
Thanks again.

I found this issue http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=38401 but
it's
not confirmed yet.

It seems that Copy/Paste doesn't work for all extensions on Linux (can you
confirm
that?).

But on windows pasting text into the GV-Dialer works fine.

Thanks for your feedback.

On Linux one can paste with Ctrl-y. It seems that I grew too accustomed to the
graphical
user interface.

In my defense, clipboard action on Linux has been inconsistent. For a some
time, only the
context menu worked well when copying between applications.

For the sake of comparison, context menus are also disabled in the GV extension
for Google
Voice. That extension does, however, activate hyperlinks for phone numbers in
Google
Contacts.

Thank you very much for the pointer. My apologies for misreporting the issue.
And thank
you again for providing this great Chrome extension.

AFAIK context menus are also disabled for all extensions on all operating
systems.

I know that there must be a way for dialing numbers found on webpages, it will
be my
first feature request to implement as soon as i have some time.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
