First one of the day, i.e. not downloaded anything from there in the days leading up to this minute:

Reeks like #2 kicking in another way...

A!-HA! 🥳

I'm running these tests through a VPN (https://nordvpn.com/) and was popping up through their Amsterdam node, which apparently has been blocked (temporarily) by ResearchGate as switching to the Germany exit node 'fixed' this issue, which was reproducible on my regular (modern) browsers: MS Edge, Chrome and WaterFox.

🤦

This shows the counter-example I always expected to happen for the Qiqqa Sniffer workaround (#113) which has been floating around for years: use a VPN. That's not a fix, merely a go-around for as long as you are very lucky (which never lasts long 😉 )

Theoretically, that would be aggravating the situation for the lump sum, i.e. for all of ye as any VPN cannot have as many 'exit nodes' as it will have users, so the number of IP addresses requests are coming from, when using a VPN, will be fewer rather than more, making it easier for this kind of paywall/membership-checks in site code to deliver a positive and block you. Anyway... My 2 cents.

Closing as this is not solvable by Qiqqa. (switch IP address was the 'answer' here)
