The word 'database' here has a general meaning of 'data stored in foodnotes' , and does not require any technical knowledge about what exactly is a 'database'. Any thing that stores data can be called a database, even a storeroom containing many physical files can be called database too.

delete-item feature states that the command deletes an item from the database, users who are not tech savvy might not fully understand what the database is referring to. Compared to delete stall which states that a stall is deleted from foodnotes making it easier to understand.
